RBU Marks World Environment Day with ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Tree Plantation Drive
Chandigarh , June 5: Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability, the NSS Department of Rayat Bahra University (RBU) celebrated World Environment Day by organizing a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive under the inspiring theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” on the university campus.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, university officials, and distinguished guests. The programme was graced by the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, Director NSS, Prof. (Major) A. S. Chahal, Ms. Meena Verma, Principal, RBU School, representatives from Malabar Gold & Diamonds, faculty members, and NSS volunteers, who collectively planted saplings across the campus to promote environmental conservation and foster a greener future.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of trees in combating climate change, reducing pollution, and ensuring sustainable development.
Adding a creative dimension to the event, NSS volunteers prepared and displayed thought-provoking slogans highlighting environmental protection, the importance of tree plantation, pollution control, and the conservation of natural resources.
Addressing the gathering, Director NSS, Prof. (Major) A. S. Chahal emphasized the urgent need to protect and preserve the environment. He encouraged students and volunteers to become active stewards of nature and contribute towards building a clean, green, and sustainable future for generations to come.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by participants to continue supporting environmental initiatives and work towards creating a healthier and greener planet.
