RBU hosts workshop on IPR and Biomedical Innovation

Rayat Bahra University organised a CME-cum-Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Biomedical Innovation, bringing together scientists, legal experts, and industry leaders to bridge the gap between research and patenting.

The workshop commenced with an inaugural address by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, who emphasized the importance of protecting ideas in today’s innovation-driven world. He noted that IPR is essential for fostering academic excellence and economic growth.
The event was conducted under the leadership of Dipneet Kaur, Chairperson of the Department of Clinical Embryology and Reproductive Genetics.

Dr. Sunil Kumar Arora delivered the keynote on Regulatory T-Cells, highlighting their role in maintaining immune balance. Legal experts, including Dr. Meera Sharma, Dr. G.R. Raghavender, and Dr. K.S. Kardam, provided valuable insights into patents, copyrights, and regulatory compliance in biomedical research.

Industry experts such as Dr. Ruchi Mutreja and Nitesh Shrivastav discussed commercialisation and advancements in diagnostics and fertility treatments. Dr. Omprakash Sahu and Dr. Ravinder Tonk guided participants on translating research into patents.

The workshop concluded with a panel discussion and a valedictory address by Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra, who lauded the initiative.
