First batch of M Sc in nutrigenetics gets degrees

Rayat Bahra University celebrated a historic milestone with the successful completion of Asia’s inaugural M.Sc. in Nutrigenetics & Personalised Nutrition program.
The first batch of students received their degrees at a prestigious convocation underscoring the program’s role in advancing personalised nutrition through gene-nutrient science.
This groundbreaking two-year course, launched in 2023, marks a pioneering effort in personalised nutrition science, blending nutrient-gene interactions with advanced dietetics for life sciences graduates.
The Department of Nutrigenetics, established by visionary leaders Jyoti Garhewal and Prof Pulakes Purkait, collaborated seamlessly with the Institute of Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics Research (INNR) and Institute of Translational Health Science (ITHS).
This unique partnership with Rayat Bahra University has empowered students with cutting-edge skills in nutrigenomics, fostering innovation in translational health sciences and this collaboration provided a robust curriculum blending nutrigenomics, clinical diagnostics, and translational health applications, preparing graduates for innovative roles in regenerative medicine and beyond.
Jyoti Garhewal, Founder of INNR and ITHS, expressed her excitement: “This achievement ignites our vision for personalized nutrition in Asia, empowering graduates to lead healthcare transformation.”
Prof. Pulakes Purkait expressed his excitement: “This achievement realizes our dream of advancing personalized nutrition and Nutrigenetics research in Asia, equipping graduates to transform healthcare through science-driven dietary interventions.”
Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are thrilled to lead this first-of-its-kind program, strengthening our commitment to global-standard research and education in emerging biomedical fields.”
This convocation positions Institute of Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics Research (INNR), Institute of Translational Health Science (ITHS) and Rayat Bahra University as frontrunners in India’s emerging nutrigenetics landscape.
